Six-Campaign PPC Launch Structure

A launch PPC account is split into six campaigns so that each keyword-list/match-type combination generates its own clean data set for analysis, rather than mixing match types or keyword sources inside one campaign:

  1. Exact-match — main keywords
  2. Exact-match — relevant keywords
  3. Broad-match — master keyword list
  4. Broad-match — misspelled keywords
  5. Broad-match — sales-volume keywords
  6. Broad-match — suggested keywords

...plus a separate fully automatic campaign (Amazon-targeted, no manual keywords) run alongside the six manual campaigns to surface additional search terms.

The keyword sources map to the four-list keyword system built during listing optimization. Later in the product's life, overlapping campaigns get consolidated — see Match-Type Overlap Trimming & Manual Campaign Restructuring for the post-launch restructuring that follows this initial six-campaign setup.

One-Campaign-Per-Match-Type Rationale

The underlying rule behind the six-campaign split: never mix match types or automatic targeting groups (exact, phrase, broad, or a single Automatic Campaign Four-Way Split (Close Match, Loose Match, Substitutes, Complements) sub-group) inside one campaign. Keeping each campaign limited to a single match type is what makes spend, clicks, and ACoS readable cleanly per match type — mix them and the numbers become impossible to attribute.
