When a valuable keyword spans a different use-case than the one a listing is built around, launch it as a separate variant/listing instead of broadening the existing listing to cover it.
Rationale: a focused listing converts better against its core top keywords — stretching it to also rank for an adjacent use-case dilutes both the copy and the buyer match, hurting conversion on the terms that matter most. A new variant captures the keyword's traffic on its own page, tuned to that specific intent, without touching the parent listing's focus.
This differs from Variation-Based Launch for Review/Ranking Inheritance, where a variation is added mainly to inherit reviews/rank from a proven parent — here the variant exists purely to own a keyword/use-case the flagship listing shouldn't try to serve. It sits alongside Hero Variation & Variation-Level Keyword Demand, which evaluates keyword demand per variation after the fact; this concept is the upstream decision of when to create a new variation in the first place.
Example: a seller of a 'natural' branded product added a separate variant listing to capture a broad keyword covering a use-case outside the flagship listing's core positioning, rather than adding that keyword into the original listing's copy.
