Data Dive Competition Indicators

A set of Data Dive metrics used to judge how entrenched a niche's top 10 sellers are: average review count, review velocity, price range/average selling price, and A+ content quality (via the Deep Dive tool). Low average reviews (e.g. under ~500) combined with weak A+ content signals a niche a new seller can realistically break into; high reviews and strong A+ content signal an entrenched, hard-to-beat top 10.

These indicators feed the competition leg of the Five Reasons Amazon FBA Products Fail and set one of the thresholds in the Safe Niche Threshold Checklist (under 800 average competitor reviews).

Low Reviews + Content Gaps → Low PPC Competition

Low average competitor reviews combined with visible gaps in competitor images/bundles (seen via Data Dive Deep Dive Tool (Listing & Image Comparison)) signal more than an easy-to-enter niche — they specifically indicate low PPC competition, since weak competitors aren't bidding hard for the available keywords either. Example: a stackable jewelry tray organizer niche showed this pattern.

Competitor Strength Grading

Within the master keyword list, Data Dive grades each competitor's strength as:

The outlier bucket (keywords outside the master list) surfaces terms one dominant competitor uniquely owns — e.g. a single brand owning "toiletries organizer" outright. Useful two ways: it flags unbeatable dominance to avoid chasing, or it can point to a viable keyword to target instead once you understand why that competitor owns it.
