Amazon FBA Business Formation Checklist (UK)

The prerequisite legal/administrative sequence to complete before touching product research: form a limited company, register a non-home business address, open a business bank account, then register a Professional (not Individual) Amazon seller account.

The Professional tier is required because it unlocks bulk-listing tools, categories, and Brand Registry eligibility that the Individual tier lacks — attempting product research or sourcing before this infrastructure exists means redoing paperwork once volume outgrows an Individual account.

Apply: treat this as step zero of the 40-Step FBA Launch Framework — complete it before evaluating products against the Three-Part Profitability Filter (Volume, Price Floor, Margin Stack).

Professional vs Individual Seller Account

Amazon offers two seller account tiers. Individual: capped at 35 units sold per month, no access to PPC/sponsored ads. Professional: no unit cap, full PPC access. Open the Professional account only after the limited company and business bank account are in place — private-label selling needs both PPC and volume above the 35-unit/month individual cap, so Individual is a non-starter for this model.
