Cubiscan is Amazon's automated first-receipt measurement process — depending on the machine version it uses lasers, ultrasound, or a camera to measure a product's package dimensions. The resulting "contribution score" overrides any dimensions the seller entered in Seller Central, and this cubiscanned measurement is what actually determines FBA size-tier fees, not the listing's stated dimensions.
Because the scan only happens once (at first receipt), sellers who redesign packaging must manually request a re-scan via a Seller Central ticket — and should sell through old-packaging inventory first, since a mixed batch risks Amazon re-measuring a leftover old unit instead of the new one. Random quality-check re-scans carry the same risk in reverse: an item normally shipped folded (e.g. a t-shirt) can get measured flat and unexpectedly jump size tiers. See Package Size vs. Shipping Cost Tradeoff for the sizing incentive this scoring creates.
